Watergate Bay Hotel - Cornwall, UK

It’s the time of year, where I switch off and indulge in the slower pace of life for a short while. During the Spring, Summer and Autumn, I chase the light and embrace the changing seasons in the UK. I love watching the seasonal back drop change for my other photography business. The pace is so fast, no only for work, my personal life too. It’s quite overwhelming to have a jam packed calendar all the time.

February is the month where I really give myself permission to relax and do as little as possible. It’s all about resting, relaxing and recharging. What better way to enjoy that than to venture down to Cornwall for a weekend with my Husband and just enjoy everything it has to offer. Cornwall has always been a special place to me, as I spent a lot of my childhood camping in various corners of that part of the country. Watergate bay is a familiar stomping ground for us, so it was an easy choice.

Despite photography being my job, it’s still my hobby too. It’s not often I will go somewhere without my camera. I spend my life capturing other people. It just makes me want to leave my own mark and write my own story. I’m not always in the photos, but I still see myself in every image I take.

I wanted to share some film photography I took whilst we were there. These were shot on my new toy, a Canon A1. I used Kodak gold, 200. The lab I used to develop these was Take it Easy Lab, (which I cannot recommend enough!)

I think my husband is absorbing photography knowledge via osmosis and just being constantly exposed to me talking about it. I love this portrait of me, take on the top of the cliff, over looking Watergate bay.
